Luben Petrov Dimanov is a Bulgarian painter - a graphic artist, painter and illustrator. He was born on April 19, 1933 (86) in Knezha, Bulgaria
In 1959 he graduated from the National Art Academy in the class of Prof. Georgi Bogdanov, a specializing in decorative and monumental art. His fellow students are artists such as Svetlin Rusev, Ioan Leviev, Dimitar Kirov, Georgi Bozhilov - Elephant. He works in the field of painting and wall-monumental arts, but shortly after his graduation he focuses on the graphic (including etching, lithography and monotype), the illustration and the drawing. He is considered a modernist and one of the emblematic names of Bulgarian graphics in the 1960s and 1970s.
Since 1961, he has participated in joint art exhibitions and exhibitions abroad: the Paris 1966, 1963, 1965 Paris Biennale, as well as the graphic biennials in Budapest, Krakow, London, Ljubljana, Moscow, Rome, San Paolo, Florence. His first solo exhibition took place in Sofia in 1972, followed by exhibitions in Stockholm, Paris, Dusseldorf, Zurich, Lyon, Oslo, Lyusenburg, Copenhagen, Vienna and others.
In 1974-1975 Dimanov left for London, in connection with the illustrated by him "Sonetti" by William Shakespeare. He also established contacts with the Paris-based Ruegard. He received an invitation to work and from 1976 he lives in Paris but regularly returns to Bulgaria.
Dimanov illustrates and forms many books that he says have opened his "path to the West". These include:

Winner of numerous prestigious awards for graphics, painting, painting and illustration including:
1960 - silver medal for the schedule of the First Youth Exhibition,
1964 - UBA Award for Drawings and Graphics Series.
1965 - Award for Graphic Arts of the Union of Bulgarian Artists,
1966, 1967, 1969, 1971 - awards for graphic art and illustration of common art exhibitions,
1974 - Second Prize for Illustration of the International Book Exhibition in Moscow,
1986 - Painting Prize at the International Center for Contemporary Art in Paris.
1989 - Painting and Drawing Award from the International Exhibition in Deauville.
Dimanov's paintings are owned by the National Art Gallery, the Albertina Museum in Vienna, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the National Galleries in Tbilisi and Skopje and others.
