Atanas Hranov was born on October 11, 1961 in Plovdiv. He studied at the Secondary School of Arts, Kotel (1980). He graduated from the Academy of Arts in Sofia in 1987, specializing in woodcarving under Professor Anton Donchev.
He works in the field of plastic arts and painting, mixing organically the genres. Typical of the author's materials are wood, handmade paper, canvas, bronze, silver and polymeric plaster on a metallic construction. He has authored more than 60 solo exhibitions, participates in numerous joint initiatives and curatorial projects.
He has collaborated with poets Veselin Sariev and Alexander Sekulov.
His works are owned by the National Art Gallery in Sofia, many other museums in the country, as well as private collections in Bulgaria and abroad.
Atanas Hranov is an avid sailor.
He lives and works in Plovdiv.
